From 1st March 2025, the address of The Sand & Sound Centre is:
Office 1 (ground floor)
Digital House
35 Ridling Lane
HYDE
Greater Manchester
SK14 1NP
The Sand & Sound Centre is situated on the ground floor of Digital House. As you enter the foyer area, the Centre's door is on the right hand side.
The Centre is situated 0.5 mile from Junction 3 of M67, and 8 miles east from Manchester city centre.
Please note, while Digital House is visible from the junction where Mottram Road and Union Street meet, there is no direct access to Digital House/Ridling Lane from the main road - you need to go down Travis Street, turn left into Mount Street and left again on Ridling Lane.
Parking: There is no dedicated car park at Digital House, but there is usually plenty of free street parking in Ridling Lane and adjacent residential streets. Please make sure you do not obstruct any drives or gateways when parking your car.
The two nearest railway stations to The Sand & Sound Centre are:
* Hyde Central (0.5 miles/12 minutes walk from the venue) - about 20 minute train ride from Manchester Piccadilly;
* Newton for Hyde (0.6 miles /15 minutes walk) - about 15 minute train ride from Manchester Piccadilly.
Hyde Bus Station is just a short walk (0.2 miles/5 minutes) from the venue.
If you are driving, the convenient hotels in the area are the Premier Inn in Denton and Premier Inn in Hyde, both a short drive from the venue - quite a few of my students have stayed in both of these and found them comfortable. There is also the Village Hotel in Hyde but my students have not tested it out yet.
There may be AirBnBs in the area but I am not yet familiar with them. If you are arriving on public transport and are not able to find accommodation within walking distance of The Sand & Sound Centre, we could possibly arrange lifts from your hotel to the Centre.
The Sand & Sound Centre is situated within a very short walk from Hyde town centre, including shops, cafes, post office, banks.
Morrisons supermarket is just across the road.
For those of you wanting to hunt for sandplay symbols, town centre has some charity shops.
If you would like to spend your lunch break in a green space, Hyde Park (not that one!) is approximately 10 minute walk away (0.4 miles).
If you decide to spend an extra day or two in the area, you could explore the Peak District or Manchester City Centre, both within easy reach by car.
